About Matthew

An established transactional, corporate and tax lawyer with over a decade of experience, Matthew Couvillion represents a wide array of clients in their most pressing matters. Matthew’s clients include multinational corporations, family offices, high net worth individuals, nonprofits and closely held businesses.  

Matthew regularly advises clients on strategic transactional matters, corporate structuring and business tax issues. His deep experience as both a corporate and tax lawyer allows him to advise clients on unique strategies from a holistic perspective.

Matthew has a LLM in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center and earned his law degree from The University of South Carolina. He obtained his bachelor of arts degree from Auburn University where he studied History and Finance.

Prior to law school Matthew worked in a number of different capacities for two local manufacturing businesses. Matthew started his legal career as a judicial law clerk, practiced with a tax boutique in Washington, DC, spent several years in Atlanta as a tax and mergers and acquisitions attorney and was most recently head of the corporate practice for a law firm in Greenville, SC.
